Detailed Description

# Anycubic Kobra X

Overview

The Anycubic Kobra X is a desktop FDM 3D printer designed around fast printing, easy setup and integrated multi-color capability. It provides a 260 × 260 × 260 mm build volume and supports native four-color printing, with expansion available for workflows using additional colors.

Its build volume is slightly larger than the Bambu Lab A1, while its native four-color architecture provides a different approach to multi-color printing than the A1's optional AMS lite system. Users who prefer an enclosed platform for broader engineering-material workflows can also compare the Bambu Lab P2S.

The Kobra X combines a 300°C hardened-steel nozzle, direct-drive extrusion, LeviQ 3.0 automatic leveling and intelligent print monitoring. Official Anycubic specifications list PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, ASA, PLA-CF and PETG-CF as supported materials.

Material Compatibility

The Kobra X is primarily aimed at common desktop materials and selected carbon-fibre-reinforced filaments. Compared with an open-frame printer such as the Bambu Lab A1, its hardened-steel nozzle provides direct support for the officially listed PLA-CF and PETG-CF materials.

Standard Materials

  • PLA
  • PETG
  • TPU
  • PVA
  • ASA

Reinforced Materials

  • PLA-CF
  • PETG-CF

Recommended use: Use properly dried filament and appropriate nozzle and material profiles when printing moisture-sensitive or abrasive materials.

Important: Material compatibility should follow Anycubic's validated profiles, particularly when using multi-material or carbon-fibre-reinforced filaments. For broader enclosed engineering-material workflows, compare the Bambu Lab P2S or ELEGOO Centauri Carbon.

Multi-Color Printing

The Kobra X provides native four-color printing and can be expanded to support configurations with up to 19 colors. Anycubic's ACE GEN 2 architecture combines filament feeding and multi-color switching, while 19-color operation requires additional ACE 2 Pro hardware and filament hubs.

This differs from the Bambu Lab A1 and Bambu Lab A1 mini, which use the external AMS lite system for four-color workflows.

Important: Active filament drying is not built into the standalone Kobra X. Drying requires the compatible ACE 2 Pro accessory.

Automation and Monitoring

The Kobra X includes automated calibration and monitoring features intended to simplify everyday printing and reduce failed prints.

  • LeviQ 3.0 automatic leveling
  • Automatic Z-offset
  • Pressure-advance and flow calibration
  • Filament runout detection and auto resume
  • Filament entanglement detection
  • AI spaghetti detection
  • Foreign-object detection
  • Object skipping
  • Power-loss recovery
  • 720p remote monitoring camera

Its automated first-layer and monitoring workflow makes it a direct alternative to other convenience-focused desktop printers such as the Bambu Lab A1.

Comparison Section

The Anycubic Kobra X competes most directly with accessible multi-color desktop printers such as the Bambu Lab A1 and compact Bambu Lab A1 mini. Users who need an enclosed platform can instead consider the Bambu Lab P2S.

Note: Published speed figures are not directly equivalent between manufacturers because some refer to print speed while others refer to maximum toolhead speed.

Recommended use: Choose the Anycubic Kobra X when native four-color printing, a 260 mm cubed build volume and AI-assisted monitoring are priorities. Consider the Bambu Lab A1 for the Bambu Lab AMS lite ecosystem, the Bambu Lab A1 mini for a smaller footprint, or the Bambu Lab P2S when an enclosed chamber is more important.

Callout Section

Recommended use: The Kobra X is best suited to users who prioritize native multi-color printing, fast operation and automated setup in an accessible desktop platform. For an enclosed alternative, compare the Bambu Lab P2S or ELEGOO Centauri Carbon.
