Overview

The Formlabs Form 4 is a professional masked stereolithography 3D printer built around Formlabs' Low Force Display (LFD) print engine. It combines fast resin printing with a 200 × 125 × 210 mm build volume, automated resin handling, a broad professional materials ecosystem, and integrated monitoring.

Formlabs specifies vertical print speeds of up to 100 mm/hour under its maximum-speed test conditions, while many typical jobs can be completed in under two hours depending on resin, layer thickness, part height, and geometry. The system is designed for professional prototyping, engineering, manufacturing aids, tooling, and small-batch production.

Technical Specifications

Note: The 100 mm/hour maximum is achieved under Formlabs' specified maximum-speed conditions using Fast Model Resin and 200 µm layers. Print speed varies with material, layer height, part geometry, and print settings.

Note: Formlabs' XY tolerance figures are feature-size dependent and include lower absolute tolerance limits; they should not be interpreted as a universal ±0.15% tolerance for every feature size.

Important: Open Material Mode is an optional per-printer capability and should not be treated as included with the standard Form 4 Basic Package unless the purchased configuration explicitly includes it.

Important: Standard Form 4 is not the Form 4B medical/dental variant. Workflows that require validated biocompatible printing should use the appropriate Form 4B configuration and validated materials.

Form 4 uses Formlabs' Low Force Display technology, combining a high-power backlight, Light Processing Unit, release texture, flexible-film resin tank, and intelligent control systems to cure each resin layer across the build area simultaneously.
